We also have different malleable resources for example cornflour, shaving foam, jelly.
We learn to recognise our names, and can try and write them if we wish to. We encourage greater independence in the children by allowing them to make decisions, use the toilet unaided and find their own coats when going outside.
Each term we also go for a walk of the locality, sometimes looking for special items, listening for sounds, or following a map. We also visit the library, the Co-op, the café and ride on a bus!
We participate in P.E. sessions each term, we take our shoes and socks off then have an aerobic workout, with warm up and cool down then put our socks and shoes back on.
- 8.30am The Aunties arrive to set out the equipment
- 9.00am Downstairs all children put their bags in a box, take their coats off and wash their hands and register themselves by putting their photo on the board
- We choose from a range of activities, which change every day. These include:
- Paint/glue/clay/cookery/sewing
- Floor toys – cars, trains, dinosaurs, castle, houses, aeroplanes
- Table toys –puzzles, magnets, cogs & wheels, small world play
- Construction.
- Role play –home corner, shop, dressing up, etc.
- Looking at books/ enjoying a story or listening to music.
- Playdough, sand or water
- Colouring/drawing/mark making
- Physical activities – including: climbing frame, bikes, trampoline, basketball, soft balls large & small, skittles, tunnels, balance beam, stilts, space hoppers, parachute, car slide etc. These are often downstairs in the church or in our outside space. During free play time we may use the garden, go for a walk or visit the park. Children are taken in small groups.
- 10.00am – The café opens - children enjoy milk or water, a variety of fruit and vegetables including apples, bananas, peppers, cucumber, sweetcorn, carrots, pears, kiwi fruit and grapes. Carbohydrates are offered in the form of plain biscuits, crackers, toast, muffins, bread sticks. The children go to the toilet & wash their hands before their snack, get their photograph and choose their plate and cup, they also cut their own fruit and pour their own drinks. We also recycle the leftovers!
- 11.30 am - Tidy up time - We are all encouraged to join in!
- 11.40am – Singing time/action rhymes
- 11.50 am – Time to get ready for lunch/ put on coats, give out any belongings and say our goodbye prayer using our ‘prayer bear’.
- 12.00am - Home time or lunch time

- 12.00pm – Lunch time
- 12.30pm – Children finish lunch/children just in for the afternoon arrive
- Circle time – we have a quick chat about different subjects – what we are doing during the afternoon, or a specific topic such as numbers, shapes, alphabet sounds.
- Play time!
- We choose from a range of activities as per the morning with extra items like the Kindle, woodwork, digital camera, remote controlled toys and fine motor equipment.

- 2.00pm – The café opens. Children wash their hands before coming to the snack table, they have a drink of milk or water. Children are encouraged to wash up afterwards!
- 3.10pm - Tidy up time – we all join in
- 3.15pm – Singing/music time/story time.
- 3.25pm – Time to put on their own coats. Someone might take a smiley friend home.
- 3.30pm – Home time - time to choose a library book and collect any craft.
- During the afternoons we may use our garden to play in, play in the church downstairs or visit the park.
